Are Digital Cameras an Extinct Species?

Digital Cameras

"Honey, have you checked to see if the camera is packed?" The answer to such question or one quite similar to it used to be a standard component of the Christmas preparations for many years, if not decades. This is a pointless question to ask in this day and age because the vast majority of individuals always have their cameras on them, as they are built into their smartphones.

Many individuals, and rightfully so, do not see the sense in carrying an additional device ever since the cameras on their smartphones have become as excellent as or better than the majority of point-and-shoot cameras sold in mass markets. Since the first days of the iPhone, there has been a tremendous leap forward in terms of the quality of photos taken with smartphones. Not only do modern smartphones come equipped with high-end optical lenses, but they also have sufficient processing power to perform a great deal of real-time image optimization.

The following chart, which is based on data from Statista's Global Consumer Survey, demonstrates that the ownership of digital cameras has been on the decline worldwide over the past few years. Furthermore, it's probably not a stretch to assume that people are using their digital cameras less frequently than they were in the past. A glance at camera sales throughout the world reveals an industry that is in a state of chaos, as the sector has lost more than 30 years of growth in only the last decade.

According to the data presented in the graphic, there is also a significant difference between jails and either federal or state prisons. In the United States, individuals are often detained in a jail prior to being tried and punished in a courtroom. In addition to that, those who have been convicted of lesser offenses are typically transported there after they have served their sentences. People who have been sentenced to lengthy terms of imprisonment serve out their time in jail. The disparity in suicide rates can be attributed to a variety of different factors. When trying to determine whether or not an inmate poses a danger of suicide, the authorities in a state prison have acc...
